Pinwright's Progress was a British television programme, the first regular sitcom to be transmitted in the UK. It was screened by the BBC Television Service from 1946 to 1947, and centred around the character of J. Pinwright (played by James Hayter), who ran Macgillygally's Stores, "the smallest multiple store in the world".

The rest of the regular cast included Clarence Wright as Aubrey, Sara Gregory as Miss Doolittle, Daphne Maddox as Miss Peabody, Leonard Sharp as Ralph, Charles Irwin as the Salesman and Doris Palmer as Mrs Sigsbee. The character of Mrs Sigsbee bore some resemblance to the more famous Mrs Slocombe in the popular 1970s series Are You Being Served?.

First broadcast at 9pm on Friday November 29 1946, the half-hour episodes were transmitted bi-weekly, alternating with Kaleidoscope. Ten episodes were made in total, the last being shown on May 16 1947. The series was produced by John Glyn-Jones and written by Rodney Hobson. The script editor was Ted Kavanagh, who had previously written the BBC radio comedy series It's That Man Again.

The episodes were all transmitted live from the BBC's Alexandra Palace studios, and none were recorded, the only visual record of the programme being still photographs.
