The prefecture covers the south-western part of the agglomeration of Athens, several islands in the Saronic Gulf (Salamis, Aegina, Poros a.o.), Methana and Troizina on the Peloponnese peninsula, and the islands Kythira and Antikythera south of the Peloponnese.
