[edit] Plot
At the end of Dead Man's Chest, Will Turner, Elizabeth Swann, and their company find refuge with Tia Dalma, who offers the opportunity to embark on a journey to rescue Captain Jack Sparrow from his watery grave. Tia Dalma announces the need for a captain that will guide them to "worlds end", prompting the appearance of Captain Barbossa, believed to have been dead. The second film ended there.

[edit] Title
At the time of Dead Man's Chest's release, its sequel was rumored to be titled At World's End. However, in July 2006, a Disney representative had denied that At World's End would be the title of the third film.<ref>Otto, Jeff. "Pirates 3 Gets a Name?", IGN, 2006-07-10. Retrieved on 2006-09-20.</ref> On August 31 2006, screenwriter Terry Rossio confirmed that, after all, the third film's title would be At Worlds End. Rossio said that the choices for the title were down to either Worlds End or At Worlds End. Rossio also noted that the missing apostrophe in the title At Worlds End suggested a "double-meaning... towards a specific location.. The title is still At Worlds End." <ref>"Pirates 3 Title Confirmed", IGN, 2006-09-01. Retrieved on 2006-09-20.</ref>
[edit] Leaked early script
The first fifty-seven pages of an early draft of the script were leaked onto the Internet and were taken down by Disney. Co-writer Ted Elliott stated on Disney's official Pirates of the Caribbean message board that the early draft was for "budget and scheduling purposes only," and that "there's already significant differences" between the early draft and actual shooting.<ref>Major Script Spoilers for POTC 3. [edit] Filming
Parts of the third film were shot during location filming of Dead Man's Chest, with some principal photography done in April 2005. Production of Dead Man's Chest ended March 2006. Filming of the third film resumed August 3rd 2006 and is scheduled to continue until late 2006/early 2007 for 70 days off the coast of California.<ref>Otto, Jeff. It is unknown how this location fits into the film, but publicists for the movie said the bright-white desert landscape of the Salt Flats was a perfect location for what they needed. If Davy Jones' Locker is the type of sandy purgatory that was previously described, filming for this could have been done at the Utah Salt Flats.<ref>"Captain Jack Sparrow Landed In Utah Last Week", KSL News, 2006-08-09.
