Political parties in North Korea are heavily tied to the function of the government. North Korea has several parties, but the Workers Party of Korea (more commonly, the Korean Worker's Party or KWP) has a stranglehold on political power.

North Korea is a single-party state. This means that only one political party, the Workers Party of Korea, is legally allowed to hold effective power. [edit] North Korean opposition parties

Exiled and informal parties include the Korean Liberal Democrats and the Korean Greens.
