Pomposa Abbey is a Romanesque abbey built near Ferrara in the 10th century.

The abbey contains a good mosaic pavement, and interesting frescoes; and there are also paintings in the refectory. It was abandoned in 1550 on account of malaria. The campanile is one of the finest belltowers from the Romanesque period. A similar campanile is on Rab.
