Pope John Paul
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Two Popes of the Roman Catholic Church have taken to themselves the regnal name of John Paul:
- Pope John Paul I (1978), who named himself in honor of his predecessors, Pope John XXIII and Pope Paul VI
- Pope John Paul II (1978-2005), sometimes called John Paul the Great, the only Pole to have occupied the papal chair. He named himself in honor of his predecessor, who reigned for only 34 calendar days.
- "Pope John Paul" is a song by Montreal based The Lovely Feathers
