Power has many meanings, most of which imply (a capacity for) control or force, (though in physics the terms "power" and "force" have different meanings).

• Power (physics) is the amount of work done or energy transferred per unit of time.
• Electric power generation is the process of converting any form of energy to electrical energy as in: power station, nuclear power, solar power, wind power, wave power, tidal power, geothermal power, hydropower
• In optics, the optical power of a lens is the inverse of its focal length.
• The power of radio stations is usually the effective radiated power which is an effort to account for the fact that some stations broadcast in all directions, while some other stations use directional antennas.

• In Philosophy power is the cause of the spread of a set of ideas. Nietzsche attributied Christianities spread to the the influence of power struggles which materialised in conquest and war, which in turn resulted in the spread of the moral ideal of christianity.
