Ramenskoye (Russian: Ра́менское) is a town in Moscow Oblast, Russia, located 46 km southeast of Moscow. Population: 82,074 (2002 Census); 85,100 (2000); 69,000 (1974); 28,000 (1939).
The most famous object of Ramenskoye/Zhukovsky is LII (Flight Research Institute named after Gromov) at 55.565 N, 38.131 E, where the vast majority of Soviet/Russian aircraft were tested. The center has two main runways, one approximately five kilometers long and the other 2.8 kilometers.
The town's name comes from the archaic word "раменье" (ramenye), meaning "the edge of forest".
