In many games where teams are defined by colors, the "red army" could mean the red player's units.
Students of Quince Orchard High School in Gaithersburg, Maryland call themselves the Red Army, referring to their school color and alluding to the Soviet armed forces. During football games, the Red Army stands in a student section wearing red shirts. Its support has contributed to Quince Orchard's outstanding 2006-2007 athletic season.
