Regulation of Railways Act 1889

The Regulation of Railways Act 1889 (52 & 53 Vict c. 57) was passed by the UK Parliament as a result of the Armagh rail disaster, making continuous automatic (fail-safe) brakes mandatory on British passenger railways, along with the block system of signalling and the interlocking of all main line points and signals.
