"Ripped Pants" is a SpongeBob SquarePants episode from season one.

Brief summary: SpongeBob tries to impress his squirrel friend Sandy at Mussel Beach (Goo Lagoon), and accidentally rips his pants! He's embarrassed until he realises the crowd thought it was a joke he did on purpose! But the joke gets old, fast.

SpongeBob does silly stuff to make Sandy laugh, but then Larry the Lobster comes and asks Sandy if she wants to go lift some weights. A left out SpongeBob tries to get more attention by lifting marshmallows. But SpongeBob, being a very wimpy sponge, accidentally rips his pants in the process. Feeling embarrassed, the sponge sadly leaves. But after finding out that people thought he was funny when he ripped his pants, decided to start ripping his pants on purpose. People soon tire of the joke, but Spongebob, not realising, pushes it too far and pretends to drown. When he reveals it as a joke, everybody leaves, angry at SpongeBob. Seeing that he has driven all his friends away, he asks himself if he is the biggest loser on the beach. This question is answered by three other people, who each believe they are the biggest losers on the beach. They ask Spongebob what happened to him, and he tells his story through a song. Everybody on the beach sees this, and understands how he feels, so they love him again. About to sign Larry's pants, SpongeBob's underwear rips off completely.

• An episode of Higglytown Heroes has a reference to this episode called Wayne's Ripping Adventure where Wayne ripped his pants just like SpongeBob did.
• The song that SpongeBob sings is similar to the Beach Boys song "Be True to Your School"

• This is Larry's first appearence.
• SpongeBob ripped his pants 15 times.
• The way SpongeBob sounds (when singing) and the way the girl-fishes surround him under the stage mirrors that of Frank Sinatra.
• In the scene after SpongeBob pretends to drown, he has no sleeves for a brief shot, but they reappear after he looks at Sandy playing volleyball with Larry.
• There is a SpongeBob SquarePants toy to tie in with this episode that is marketed by Fisher-Price that really does rip his pants.

Sandy: That wasn't funny SpongeBob! Y'all had me worried sick!
