He has written a musical, which was performed in Bristol. Rob received a classical piano training, first while a music scholar at Fettes College and then on the music course at Bristol University. However, it was to be in the songs of the 1940s, jazz and more contemporary popular music that Rob was to find his natural territory. Using repertoire from these genres, along with his talent for improvisation, Rob has performed at various high profile events, including corporate events, prestigious openings, weddings and even 90th birthday parties.

In the corporate arena, Rob has played at events hosted by some of the UK’s leading companies and institutions, such as Premier Oil; Scottish Power; the Scottish Executive etc. In addition to these and others events at some of the UK’s leading hotels, Rob has played at various piano bars, including a regular slot recently in West London, where his playing was particularly well received.

Robert Berry is also an American progressive rock musician whose collaborations with Keith Emerson and Carl Palmer (two-thirds of Emerson, Lake & Palmer) resulted in the 1987 debut of 3. Their debut album, To the Power of Three, featured a synthesizer-laden cover of The Byrds' "Eight Miles High", plus several original pop compositions from Berry, who played both electric bass and lead guitar. The first single "Talkin'Bout' hit the number 6 spot on the Billboard top 100. Rolling Stone, unsurprisingly, gave the album abyssmal ratings, but their 3 month tour of the US helped push the single up the charts and was mostly sold out. Since the dissolution of 3, Robert Berry has participated in several projects, including a tribute album to Yes. He was also involved in an abortive follow-up to GTR in which he replaced Steve Hackett. Material from this project and an unreleased second 3 album appeared on Berry's solo album Pilgrimage to a Point available at Robertberry.com. Berry's current band Alliance is composed of top musicians Gary Pihl from the band Boston on guitar, David Lauser from the Sammy Hagar Band on drums and Alan Fitzgerald from Night Ranger on keyboards. He also has contributed songs to a number of film soundtracks, including the Anthony Michael Hall film Out of Bounds.
