The Ruzhin dynasty was founded by Rav Yisroel Friedman (1796-1850). Rav Yisroel's father was Rav Sholom Shachne of Prohobist, who was a son of R' Avrohom "HaMalach" (He was given this name because of his separation from material comforts). Rav Avraham was a son of Rav Dov Ber, the Maggid of Mezritch, who was the main disciple of the Baal Shem Tov. All of Rav Yisroel's sons and descendants founded Chassidishe dynasties of their own, including Sadigura, Chortkov, Husiyatan, Boyan, Buhush, and Vasloi.
