SBS6

SBS6 is a commercial TV channel in the Netherlands from the SBS Broadcasting Group. Other channels of the SBS Broadcasting Group in the Netherlands are NET 5 and Veronica.

SBS means Scandinavian Broadcasting System. When the SBS Broadcasting Group started expanding outside of Scandinavia in 1995, they first started expanding in the Netherlands with SBS6. SBS6 was the third Dutch commercial TV station after RTL 4 and RTL 5.
When SBS6 was launched, they were in a tough competition with the channel Veronica, which started as a commercial station at the same time. Both SBS6 and Veronica wanted to be on channel 6 of the viewer's television.
In the 21st century, the SBS Broadcasting Group expanded their Dutch channel list with NET 5. In 2004 Veronica was added to the list of channels.

SBS6 is a family television station for all ages. The "normal" people themselves have a central role on the SBS6 channel. Hart van Nederland (Heart of the Netherlands) is the best example, and also the most popular program of SBS6. People get interviewed about their thoughts and opinions of minor town events.
