Chance "T-Bone" Furlong and Jake "Razor" Clawson were members of Megakat City's paramilitary force, the Enforcers. While in pursuit of the villainous Dark Kat, the two rebelled against Enforcer Commander Feral's orders to fall back and leave Dark Kat to him. The altercation resulted in Dark Kat's escape and Chance and Jake's jet crashing into Enforcer headquarters. Because of the accident, they were discharged from the force by Commander Feral and were required to work at a salvage yard to pay for their damages. Using junk from the salvage yard, they built an advanced jet fighter called the Turbokat (resembling several different aircraft, most notably, an F-14) and patrol Megakat City as the SWAT Kats. T-Bone and Razor keep their identities secret. Their methods do not endear them to Commander Feral, a brave and resourceful character in his own right.

SWAT Kats briefly returned to Cartoon Network on February 13, 2006, airing on Cartoon Network at 2:30 PM Eastern, with several of the season 1 episodes being shown in no particular order. This only lasted for one week, then Swat Kats was replaced by Ozzy & Drix in the 2:30 time slot on February 21, 2006. SWAT Kats is not currently listed on Cartoon Network's official schedule. The reason for SWAT Kats very brief and unannounced return to Cartoon Network is unknown at this time.

[edit] Inconsistencies

  • In episode 2, 20:20 into the episode, a quick shot of T-Bone and Razor inside the Turbokat shows them with switched color schemes: T-Bone shown with brown fur instead of yellow, and Razor with yellow fur instead of brown. However, this is possibly an instance of a common error of cel animation where an artist mistakenly colors a portion of a cell a different color.
