Sagittarius is an astrological sign, which is associated with the constellation Sagittarius. Under the tropical zodiac, Sagittarius is occupied by the Sun from November 22 to December 21, and under the sidereal zodiac, it is currently from December 16 to January 14. The opposite sign to Sagittarius is Gemini.

Sagittarius is the ninth sign of the Zodiac and associated with travel and expansion. Individuals born under this sign are thought to have a dynamic, ethical, humorous, generous, open-hearted, compassionate, and energetic character, but one which is also prone to pridefulness, foolishness, impulsiveness, impracticality, and superstition. In terms of anatomy, Sagittarius is said to rule the hips, thighs, and sacral area. In terms of geography, Sagittarius is linked with Spain, Arabia, Hungary, and Australia.

Sagittarians are said to like travelling, getting to the heart of the matter, freedom, laws and meanings, and the general "feel" of things. They do not like off the wall theories, being tied down domestically, being constrained, cooling their heels, and being bothered with details.

Physically, individuals born under the sign of Sagittarius supposedly tend to have large and well-shaped skull, a high and broad forehead, a tall and broad figure, and fair hair.

In the past, the astrological sign of Sagittarius was strongly associated with higher learning, philosophy, human progress, religion, life hereafter, and God.

In mythology Sagittarius is often associated with the mythological figure of Bellerophon, from the Greek myth of Pegasus. Sagittarius is also associated with the Greco-Roman god Zeus/Jupiter and sometimes the goddess Tyche/Fortuna and the god Thor.

The most compatible starsigns with a Sagittarius are said to be Gemini, Libra, Aquarius, Aries and Leo

Some notable Sagittarians are John F. Kennedy, Tina Turner, Bruce Lee, Jimi Hendrix, Winston Churchill, Billy Idol, Woody Allen, Bette Midler, Kirk Douglas, Donny Osmond, Emily Dickenson, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Nelly furtado, Walt Disney, L.V Beethovan, Steven Spielburg, and Sinead O'Connor
