Sam Simon

Sam Simon is an American television producer and writer, most notable as one of the original developers of The Simpsons, along with Matt Groening and James L. Brooks. He has also worked on Cheers, The Tracey Ullman Show, and The Drew Carey Show. He wrote The Bitter Half, a single episode sitcom for Howard Stern’s Howard 100 channel on Sirius Satellite Radio, that aired October 25, 2006.

He was married to Jennifer Tilly from 1984 to 1991.

  • When Drew Carey and Norm MacDonald were on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in 2000, they used Sam as their Phone-A-Friend(s).
  • Simon frequently appears as a panelist on the PBS program Mental Engineering.
  • According to the webpage of the Sam Simon Foundation, an organization dedicated to animal welfare causes, Sam Simon is the current manager of heavyweight boxer Lamon Brewster, the former World Boxing Organization heavyweight champion, and was also named 2004 World Boxing Manager of the Year.
  • Once slept with fashion designer Ivy Supersonic after Simon promised her he would produce one of her cartoon characters (but never followed through after the rendevous). [1] [2]
