Scarborough Castle

Scarborough Castle is a historic castle in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England, on the North Sea coast. It was built in the 12th century by Henry II. It has played a role in various military engagements including the British Civil War when it was besieged by the Parliamentarian forces, through World War II. The damage to the keep was inflicted upon its capture by the Parliamentarian forces. The site was also used as a Roman lighthouse.
