Mustela macrodon
(Prentiss, 1903)

The Sea Mink, Mustela macrodon, was a North American member of the Mustelidae family, about twice as large as the American Mink.

It was found along the rocky coasts of New England and Atlantic Canada.

It was hunted to extinction for its highly-valued fur. The last known member of the species was captured in New Brunswick in 1894.

It is sometimes considered to have been a subspecies of the American Mink, in which case the name Mustela vison macrodon is used. [1]
