Strictly, the term semi-formal is used to refer to black tie-related dress code for events[1] or daytime events events in which a stroller is worn. This indicates Black tie for men, and an Evening gown for women. Black tie is often incorrectly called formal dress but this term should be reserved to denote white tie for evening events and morning dress for daytime events.
The term is often colloquially used to refer to Informal attire. These items include a white colored button down shirt with a sports jacket or three button coat. Then a tie of which is usually black. The pants almost always match the color of the jacket. The shoes, are simple dress shoes.
