Senses are a UK based alternative rock band from Coventry, England. Made up of school friends Brian Callan, Ronan O'Connor, Ian Finnegan and Kevin Kavanagh. Having played under various guises, the band settled on the current line up and name in 2005.
[edit] Biography
The foundation of Senses was formed whilst Brian Callan, Ronan O'Connor and Ian Finnegan were still attending Cardinal Newman school in Coventry (also attended by Kevin Kavanagh who joined later.)
The band have supported the likes of South (U.K. band), Cosmic Rough Riders, Shaun Ryder, Lyca Sleep and played at venues like The Colosseum, The Dublin Castle and the Derby Vic Inn.
The band's own short biography is far more abstract and describes their music as "other-worldly beauty and urban decay, making it sound like you're eavesdropping a conversation between Heaven and Earth. Raw, emotively laced vocals, heart exploding, soul imploding drums and bass, layer upon layer of guitar that veers between shimmering and distortion."
The band gained a lot of attention from their six month stint in the BBC Radio 1, One unsigned chart and this garnered the attention of several major and indie labels and lead to a deal with a small independent (which the band then turned down.)
Senses are known to swap instruments and roles, especially in the studio but essentially live they line up as:
Brian Callan - Lead Vocal and guitar Ian Finnegan - Drums and backing vocals Ronan O'Connor - Bass Kevin Kavanagh - Guitar
The band are currently working on their limited edition debut E.P. called 'A Truly Beautiful Disaster' which is expected to be released on Sano y Salvo before the end of 2006.
