Sherrilyn Kenyon (also known as Kinley MacGregor, b. 1965 in Columbus, Georgia) is a writer of romance novels occasionally comprising fantasy, science fiction and historical romance. She is best known for her innovative Dark-Hunter Series in which vampires are given a new twist. The Dark-Hunters are immortal warriors pledged to the Greek goddess Artemis and dedicated to defending mankind against Daimons (vampires) and other assorted enemies: including a couple of rogue gods and goddesses.

Writing as both Sherrilyn Kenyon and Kinley MacGregor, she is the author of several series including: The Dark-Hunters, Brotherhood of the Sword, Lords of Avalon and BAD. With an international, cult following, her books have appeared on the top ten of the New York Times, Publisher’s Weekly and USA Today lists.

[edit] Career

Sherrilyn had her first professional sale at age fourteen to Seventeen magazine. After that, she was published in many magazines and journals. She sold her first novel at age twenty-four and was the youngest published author by Dorchester and Kensington.

After six relatively successful books, her career took a downward spiral. For almost five years, she sought publication only to be rejected by many publishers. With only enough money to send out a single query letter, she tried one last time to sell her work. That query resulted in a three book deal which launched her Kinley MacGregor series.

Along with her work in fiction, she has also written nonfiction contributing to The Character-Naming Sourcebook, Everyday Life in the Middle Ages, The Writer's Complete Fantasy Reference, and essays "The Search of Spike's Balls" in BenBella's Seven Seasons of Buffy, and others in Five Seasons of Angel.

[edit] Graphic Novels

Dabel Brothers Production ("DB Pro") announced recently that they have just signed an exclusive contract with New York Times bestselling author Kinley MacGregor (a.k.a. Sherrilyn Kenyon) to adapt the first five novels in her fantasy and romance series, Lords of Avalon.

The deal was negotiated by the author’s agent, Merrilee Heifetz of Writers House, LLC.

Lords of Avalon will be produced as a monthly 22-page comic starting this fall, with a script expertly penned by Roynne Gillespie (The Burning Man) and illustrations by an artist soon to be announced. A graphic novel edition of Sword of Darkness, the first novel in the series, should be available in bookstores by Spring ’07.

Kinley/Sherrilyn, who is an admittedly hardcore fan of graphic novels and comics, says she "couldn't be more thrilled" about the project. [citation needed]
