Ship rig

A full rigged ship (a vessel with 3 or more masts, all square-rigged) is said to have a ship rig.
Such a vessel is sometimes referred to as a ship, without regard to whether it fulfills other definitions of that word. On the other hand, a ship-rigged vessel in the coal trade may be called a collier. The rig might be mentioned only if unusual, as with a collier brig. Similarly, the vessel in the picture to the right is a frigate. The ship rig is not usually mentioned as any other would be very unusual.
Related rigs are brig (2 masts), barquentine (square-rigged on only the fore mast), and barque (square-rigged on all but the mizzen mast).
