In an ice hockey shoot out, each coach selects five players from their team to take a breakaway against the opposing goalie. The skaters take their shots one at a time, alternating between teams. After the ten players have all taken their shots, the team with the most goals is declared the winner.

If the shoot out is still tied after five skaters from each team have shot, the shoot out continues one skater at a time until one team has won the advantage.
