Sinapyl alcohol, also called sinapoyl alcohol or 4-(3-hydroxy-1-propenyl)-2,6-dimethoxy-phenol, is a phytochemical, one of the monolignols. It is synthetized via the phenylpropanoid biochemical pathway. When polymerized, sinapyl alcohol forms lignin or lignans. Its CAS number is [537-33-7] [1] and its SMILES structure is OC/C=C/c1cc(OC)c(O)c(OC)c1.

Sinapyl alcohol is also a precursor for biosynthesis of stilbene and coumarin.
