South Lambeth
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
South Lambeth is a division of the area of Lambeth which is located in the Northern part of the London Borough of Lambeth.
South Lambeth would generally be considered to cover the area around South Lambeth Road (the A203) which leads from Vauxhall to Stockwell.
South Lambeth is more an administrative area than an actual location - most residents of what is considered to be South Lambeth when asked would probably say they live in Vauxhall, Kennington, Oval or Stockwell. These areas are predominantly residential in contrast to the area formerly known as North Lambeth around Waterloo station.
Estate agents have begun to describe it as "Little Portugal" due to the growth of the local Portuguese community since about 2000.
