[edit] Name
Williams was originally 'Baby Spider' on the streets,[citation needed] where it was a gang affiliation attributed to his older brother.
[edit] Career
Spider Loc was first discovered by Suge Knight and tagged along with Death Row Records, he refused six different deals,[citation needed] until he left the label. In September 2004, Spider Loc met rapper Young Buck in Atlanta and did some acapella rapping for him. A week later in Los Angeles, Young Buck introduced him to 50 Cent on the set of the 'Shorty Wanna Ride' video, and he performed the same freestyle. After four months, the rapper was offered a position with 50 Cent's G-Unit.
He has since been featured on many G-Unit mixtapes such as G-Unit Radio Part 18 - Rags To Riches where the Loc was the main subject of the mixtape and has also released his own mixtape with G-Unit West, titled "Bangadoshish (LA Kings)", which featured artists Young Buck, Big Syke (from Thug Life), 50 Cent and Olivia.
[edit] Awards
Spider Loc was at the Spike TV Video Game Awards, where he and 50 Cent shared the award for best original song in a video game (50 Cent's Maybe We Crazy for 50 Cent: Bulletproof, and Spider Loc for his song, When I Get Angry from Madden NFL 06).
[edit] Controversies
[edit] Yukmouth
Spider Loc is known for stealing rapper Yukmouth's chain while in a night-club in Hollywood. In a 2006 interview, Spider Loc admitted to a brawl with Yukmouth and his entourage<ref name="hh411">HH411 interview</ref> and later said that Mikey Ru (A Deathrow Records Affiliate) had taken the chain[citation needed]. Spider Loc took pictures wearing Yukmouth's chain and they soon spread across the internet, starting at indastreets.net. The chain was returned a day later as Spider was pressured to do so by a mutual friend named Ty from Soul Records.[citation needed]
Recently, Yukmouth claimed that the two have made up and no longer have problems with each other.<ref>http://www.worldwideconnected.com/media/yukinterview06.asx</ref>
[edit] The Game
Spider Loc also had a feud with ousted G-Unit artist The Game.<ref name="game">Interviewer asked, "You and Game are going at each other now, you went at game with 'Bitch Boy', he came back with '240 Bars', have you heard that diss yet?" in HH411 interview</ref> The two were once friends and made several tracks together. [citation needed] They have sinced attacked each other on numerous songs, including Spider Loc's "Bitch Boy" and "I Don't Want No Problems" and also on "Stop Bitchin" featuring Mr.Criminal, a Chicano rap artist. The Game responded to Spider Loc with the track "Spider Joke (240 Bars)", and Spider Loc responding himself with "G-Unot Killa" and "Bang Bang".<ref name="game" /> In a January 2006 interview, Spider Loc was asked, "Can you talk about the Big Fase and Game beef?" but he replied with no specifics. <ref name="hh411" /> Spider Loc made a diss track called 97 Bars featuring Snoopy Blue.
[edit] Album
The West Kept Secret is the expected name of the debut album from Spider Loc.
It was originally to be released in late 2005 or first quarter 2006 "at the latest."<ref>"It's entitled The West Kept Secret scheduled for release fourth quarter [of 2005], if not first quarter of next year [2006] at the latest." from Spider Loc: The West's Kept Secret Pt. 1 at BallerStatus.net</ref>. In an April 2005 interview, the artist stated he was "trying to get it out 4th Quarter, but realistically, 1st Quarter might be more probable", meaning the beginning of 2006.<ref>DubCNN interview</ref> In a January 2006 interview, Spider Loc said, "I still don't have a release date, tentatively for the end of the summer. Who knows? I don't know. I ain't really tripping..."<ref name="hh411" /> As of now, there is no release date. On his latest mixtape, he shouts "The West Kept Secret coming soon" in many of his songs.
