Sporochnales is an order in the Phylum Phaeophyta or Brown algae. Member of this order are thread like algae growing by means of an intercalary row of dome shaped cells at the base of the hairs.<ref>Pound F.E. 1962 “The Biology of the Algae” Edward Arnold Ltd. </ref>
As their general name suggests their pigmentation is brown.
