Srivastava is a common surname in Northern India among members of the Kayastha caste.
Bachchan is the pen name taken by Harivansh Rai Bachchan, as his mother used to call him "Bachchaa"('child' in Hindi). Prior to this, his surname was Srivastava.

Vidyarthi is the family name taken by many Srivastava people, which suggests the educational bend of mind of this caste. Eminent personalities having this surname are the late freedom fighter Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi and Bollywood cinema actor Ashish Vidyarthi.
