[edit] Biography
Early in her life, Swain studied classical ballet and theater. In the early 80's, she joined the dance music outfit Q (named after the James Bond character), which became SSQ. When she went solo as Stacey Q, she initially continued to work with her SSQ bandmates.
"Two of Hearts", the first single off her 1986 solo album Better Than Heaven, reached #3 in the U.S. in 1986. The followup single, "We Connect", released in 1987, topped the charts at #23. Both songs were featured on the TV series The Facts Of Life, in which she made guest appearances as the character Cinnamon (she would go on to appear in the sitcoms Full House and Mama's Family). Her sophomore album, Hard Machine and third album, Nights Like This, were much stronger albums overall but went mostly unnoticed to all but dance music lovers and hardcore Stacey Q fans.
Initially written off as HiNRG fluff, Stacey Q showed a more spiritually-minded side of herself on the late-90's, folk-leaning release Boomerang (which included a version of George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord"). Though maintaining a fairly steady presence on the dance charts, since then she has yet to return to the Top 40. 1998 saw her make a "special non-sexual appearance" as a Chinese food delivery girl in the gay porn film Playing The Odds, and in 2000 she took part in the gay-themed comedy/drama/art film Citizens of Perpetual Indulgence. She's also appeared on Never Mind The Buzzcocks (2002), and voiced a character in the English-language version of the Japanese animation, Stratos 4.
VH1's Where Are They Now? produced a feature on the artist, in which she revealed herself to be a devotee of Tibetan Buddhism, having practiced under a teacher in Tibet.
As of 2004 Stacey still resides in California and is still in the music industry. Stacey is rumoured to be working on a new project titled, "Stardust" which has no scheduled release date yet.

[edit] Trivia
- The single "Tenderness" reach #5 on an unknown chart (possibly outside the U.S.A.).
- Weird Al Yankovic created an unreleased parody of Stacey's hit "Two of Hearts" called "Two Pop-Tarts".
- During her time in SSQ she released a song, "Screaming In My Pillow", which was made into 3 different music videos. Because the first video had a PG rating it was allowed on MTV (the R-rated video ran after midnight). The third one was never shown because of its expressive material.
- Stacey attended and graduated from Loara High School in Orange County, California. Loara has also hosted Gwen and Eric Stefani of No Doubt and 1972 Olympic Silver Medal winner Dana Schoenfeld.
- Was an entertainer at the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus and the Walt Disney Company before being discovered as a singer.
- Stacey has stated that one of her most proudest song of all is "Another Chance", from her sophomore album Hard Machine.
- She has starred in the films One Man Force and Cavegirl. In One Man Force she performs the songs "The River" and "Another Chance".
- Rumor Has it that Stacey was romantically linked to her producer/band mate John St. James.
- Stacey's "Two Of Hearts" Could Have Hit Number 1 in 1986, but the problem why it didn't was because she was signed to two labels, Atlantic and On The Spot. Thus both labels released the single at the same time.
- For Stacey's albums Hard Machine and Night Like This they had more symbolization then just music for they were tributes for friends and historic people. Hard Machine honored two historic music personalities, Karen Carpenter and Jimi Hendrix. Night Like This honored her best friend Donny in the track "Goin' Out".
- For Stacey's 3rd album, Nights Like This, she had another 80's pop group to back her vocals —The Weather Girls, best known for their only hit "It's Raining Men".
- Stacey is sometimes called by her nickname "Shy Girl" (the name of one her songs).
- Her portrayal of the singer/actress Cinnamon in the hit show "The Facts Of Life" (where she performed her two hits "Two Of Hearts" and " We Connect") was such a success that a barbie doll was to be released her honor.
