Stockholm Pride

Stockholm Pride is a festival for LGBT individuals held yearly in Stockholm. Since the start in 1998, Stockholm Pride has grown to be one of Stockholm's largest annual festivals, as well as the largest Pride celebration in Scandinavia. Each year Stockholm Pride attracts visitors from both Sweden and the rest of the world. During a whole week Stockholm Pride turns Stockholm into a free zone for the GLBT community, painting the city in the colors of the rainbow. Main parts of the festival is hold on Södermalm. Stockholm Pride was host for Europride in 1998 and will also do so in 2008.

[edit] Pride Park
Pride Park is the festival arena for as many as 10,000 people, and in it the main stage, restaurants, shops and other attractions are built. Every afternoon and evening a wide variety of artists and shows are scheduled to appear on the main stage. In 2005 the park had 30 000 visitors.

Pride House, located at Mariaskolan on Ringvägen 23, is the festival's cultural centre. It is packed with seminars, debates, workshops, exhibitions, film, theatre and other performances. Pride House is open Monday through Friday.
[edit] Pride Parade
On Saturday August 5th, it is time for the big parade on the streets of Stockholm. For many, this is the highlight of the festival, and undoubtedly it is one of the most spectacular and colourful events during the week. In 2006 around 350 000 people saw the parade and 35 000 people percitipated in it.

Pride is also celebrated on other places in and around the city. Art exhibitions, debates, films, seminars, parties and other activities are some of the things made available outside Pride House and Pride Park. All activities are included in the programme found on this web site and in the Pride Magazine.
