Storm Model Management begins life in a bedroom in Sarah Doukas’ house in 1987. Richard Branson’s Virgin invests in the fledging company. Sarah pioneers the booking of top models, direct from Paris and New York into London; which soon makes the word 'supermodel', household. In 1988 at JFK airport in New York, Sarah spots the girl who, more than anyone, will come to represent the fashion of the 1990’s – Kate Moss. Storm continues to prosper and in 1989 opens its Men's Division. In 1997 Storm opens its first agency abroad, Storm South Africa in Cape Town, followed in 1999 with a Johannesburg office. We are now South Africa's leading modelling agency
During 1991, Jane March achieves international recognition in the lead role of, Jean-Jacques Annaud’s film 'The Lover'. 1992 Kate Moss becomes the face of Calvin Klein apparel and fragrance. Kate will become one of the most recognisable faces in fashion.
Elle Macpherson joins in 1993, and in 1995 releases her best selling 'Body Perfect' fitness video. During the same year, Marie Helvin publishes her second book 'Bodypure'. Kate Moss, whom having shot some of the defining images of the time, releases her photographic retrospective book 'Kate'.
Storm continues to develop the finest talent in modelling: Eva Herzigova, Monica Bellucci, Cindy Crawford are themselves household names whose images have captured the spirit of the times. And from Storm's Men’s division, Darren Malcolm, Bradley, and Alex Beck are the faces of brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Helmut Lang, and Burberry.
Kate Moss, whose work defines the standard to which others aspire, counts Burberry, Fendi, Rimmel, Coco Chanel, Louis Vuiton among her current work….
And our faces of 2006 are also making their own in the industry. Behati Prinsloo, Felicity Gilbert, Tania D are doing work for Aquascutum, British Vogue, to name a couple. And from our Men’s division, Alex Beck leads up the Daks campaign, and Brian Parrish for Monsoon. Storm also represents Ian Watkins, made famous as a member of Lost Prophets.
Today, Storm is independently owned, and numbers 27 people from 3 divisions - Men, Women, and New faces, in its London office. Storm has ventured from being just a modelling agency, an online magazine, introduced in 2004, is also sponsored by BMW. Targeted at the youth, this magazine covers everything from fashion and music, to cars and cooking. Storm also sends out an electronic monthly newsletter, talking about our latest models, and their campaigns.
Storm is one of the leading, modelling agencies in the UK, and ranks amongst the best in the world. Storm, led by industry luminary Sarah Doukas, have an experienced and dedicated team whose aim is to provide the highest quality representation to its models and outstanding service to its clients.
