"Sunday Morning" is a song by The Velvet Underground which is the opening track on their first album The Velvet Underground and Nico. It was also released as a single in 1966.

The song was the last to be recorded of the The Velvet Underground and Nico sessions, recorded in late 1966 in New York by Tom Wilson. "Sunday Morning" features more professional production than the rest of the songs on the album, as it was recorded with the idea of releasing it as a single in mind. The song was originally meant to be sung by Nico but as a show of his authority in the group, Reed decided to sing it himself at the last minute.[citation needed]John Cale plays the celesta on this track, while Sterling Morrison plays the bass guitar.

This song has been recorded by James for 1990 tribute compilation "Heaven & Hell" and was subsequently released on Lose Control single. The song has also been covered by Belle & Sebastian and Beck in their live shows. Chris Coco and Nick Cave collaborated on a studio version of the song.
