Tübinger Stift

Tübinger Stift is a hall of residence and teaching of the Protestant Church in Württemberg, located in the university city of Tübingen. It was founded in 1536 by Duke Ulrich for Württemberg born students who want to be ministers or teachers. They receive a scholarship which consists of boarding, lodging and further support. At the Stift during all times from beginning high importance is placed on Philosophy and Philology. Among students and tutors have been famous theologians, philosophers, poets and savants of other arts and sciences.
