TV Patrol World is the flagship national network news broadcast of ABS-CBN in the Philippines. Since its inception in 1987 (as TV Patrol), it has been the and longest running Filipino primetime newscast. The newscast pioneered the Philippine newscasts, with fast-paced delivery of news reports, accompanied with flashy graphic animations and music. This was soon imitated by other newscasts in the Philippines and Similar to CBS Evening News.

It is broadcast from the ABS-CBN Broadcast Complex in Quezon City.

[edit] TV Patrol (1987-2004)

When it debuted, it was known simply as TV Patrol. Philippine Vice President Noli de Castro was one of the principal anchors of TV Patrol in its debut, along with the late Francisco "Kiko" Evangelista, Mel Tiangco, and Angelique Lazo, and later Ted Failon and Kristine Bersola in place of Angelique Lazo. Also, the late Ernie Baron served as the anchor of the weather news segment. Eventually, De Castro became the sole anchor.

When De Castro ran for the Philippine Senate, he was replaced by Korina Sanchez. Sanchez was soon joined by Henry Omaga-Diaz and Aljo Bendijo. Marc Logan served as the news reader of trivial segments and features. After several changes in the anchor chair, the newscast was anchored by Sanchez and Julius Babao until November 19 2004, before being reformatted to TV Patrol World.

It still holds the record of having the highest rating news when Korina Sanchez had an exclusive interview with Kris Aquino on the latter's break-up with Joey Marquez. According to AGB, the interview had a rating of 47.2% at Mega-Manila.

[edit] TV Patrol World (2004 up to present)

At present, the newscasts' main anchors are Ted Failon, Babao, and Karen Davila. Aside from the three, special segments are anchored by Marc Logan (on weekends), Kuya Kim Atienza (weather and animal trivia), and Phoemela Baranda (Star Patrol). It is aired nationwide by the network every Weeknights at 6:30-7:45 p.m. Manila time (10:30 a.m. UTC, 5:30 a.m. US EST). It is also shown abroad through The Filipino Channel, and simulcasted via the AM radio station dZMM 630-khz. TV Patrol World recently updated it's logo design, soundtrack and 3D graphic animation sets but the news format remain the same, with floating large rear projection screens that allow the anchors to virtually "talk" to correspondents in live feeds (usually used during weekend editions).

[edit] Weekend editions (TV Patrol Sabado and TV Patrol Linggo)

The newscast's weekend editions, retitled TV Patrol Sabado (Saturday) and TV Patrol Linggo (Sunday) from TV Patrol World and anchored by Alex Santos and Bernadette Sembrano, are broadcast on Saturdays at 6-6:30 p.m. & Sundays at 6-6:45 p.m. Manila time (12:30 p.m. UTC, 7:30 a.m. US EST). It is also shown abroad (seen live in the Asia-Pacific region) through The Filipino Channel.

Prior to Sembrano and Santos, former anchors of the weekend edition include Ces OreƱa-Drilon and Henry Omaga-Diaz (both now anchors of Bandila).
