Te Rata I, Māori King (Te Rata Te Wherowhero) was a Māori king born at Waahi, Huntly, in 1880; died 1st October 1933. He was the eldest child born to Mahuta and Te Marae, daughter of Chief Amukete Te Kerei, He reigned from 1912 to 1933. His predecessor was King Mahuta Tawhiao and his sucessor was King Koroki.
