Condor (ride)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Condor is the trade name of an amusement ride sold by HUSS of Bremen, Germany. It is basically a scrambler-like ride that rises up and down a 100 foot-tall tower.
The ride has 28 seats with one or two people sitting in each, toboggan-style (one person in front of the other) if they decide to ride double. There are seatbelts in the car along with metal bars on the side of the car that will open and close due to pressure.

[edit] Carnival Ride??
The ride has a lot of lights on it as it was previously a carnival ride when it started. In fact, Six Flags Great America is that way. Even the platform will remind anyone of a carnival type ride. It's very slipperly so please watch your step when it is raining out. Condors are quite rare as some have now become perminant park models. There are still a few Condors that travel with carnivals though. The problem is that it just takes so long to setup that type of ride, and put that many cars on it.
[edit] Six Flags Ride Rotation Program
Several Condors were sold to the Six Flags chain for their (now discontinued) Ride Rotation Program. One originally started at Six Flags Magic Mountain and another started at Six Flags Great Adventure and the last one existed only at Astroworld (although its fate is unknown). The Great Adventure Condor is now at Great America and the Magic Mountain one was most likely sent to Astroworld before going missing.
[edit] Condor's Locations
Besides Six Flags Great America, there are also HUSS Condor's located at Marineland in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada; La Ronde, Montreal Quebec Canada (Six Flags). one at Morey's Pier, Wildwood, NJ, Hersheypark, Hershey, PA, and one at The Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom in Queensbury, New York.
