The Ditty Bops
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Ditty Bops is a band from Los Angeles, California that plays a blend of folk, bluegrass, jazz, western swing, ragtime and musical theater. They are headed by Abby DeWald (vocals and acoustic guitar) and Amanda Barrett (vocals, mandolin and dulcimer). They are noted for their excellent harmonies and generally playful style and tempo, as well as their live shows, which all have different themes and theatrical elements. They have been lovers since 1999. [1]
The Ditty Bops met in New York City, but formed years later after a hunt for their lost cat. When Abby and Amanda stumbled into the backyard of a stranger, they discovered that he was a musician and an avid guitar collector. He encouraged them to form a band and start playing. So began the Ditty Bops.
Six of their songs have been included on the hit show Grey's Anatomy. Their song "There's a Girl" is on the series soundtrack.
In May 2006, the Ditty Bops embarked on a cross-country tour by bicycle. When complete, they will have travelled from Los Angeles to New York City, having performed at various stops along the way.
Their 2007 Vegetable Bikini Calendar features vegetables in bikinis as well as bikinis made of vegetables.[2]
