The Greenville News is a daily morning newspaper published in Greenville, South Carolina. Along with The State in Columbia and Charleston's Post and Courier, it is one of the three largest papers in the Palmetto State.

The News started off as a four-page publication called The Greenville Daily News in 1874. The newspaper became publicly held in 1888. It competed for years with the forerunner to The Greenville Piedmont, which was founded in 1826. In 1927, the Peace family — the fifth owners of The News — bought the Piedmont, a smaller, afternoon paper. The papers maintained separate editorial staffs until January 1994, when they merged. The Piedmont, facing years of dwindling circulation, ceased publication in September 1995.

The News and the Piedmont helped form Multimedia Inc., in 1967. Gannett acquired The News when it bought Multimedia in December 1995.

Besides The Greenville News itself, the company also publishes a newspaper/magazine called Link. It features local entertainment, news, photos, reviews and more. It is a free publication and is available at more than 900 locations in Anderson, Greenville, Pickens and Spartanburg counties.
