Creative team

The Punisher War Journal is a comic book spin-off series of The Punisher. The first volume was published in November 1988 through July 1995, after running for 80 issues. The title did not differ from the main Punisher comic, and was launched in response to the Punisher's increasing popularity in the late 1980s.

Marvel Comics announced that a new The Punisher War Journal is set to debut in November 2006. It will be written as an ongoing series, bringing the Punisher character back to the Marvel Universe mainstream after years as part of the MAX imprint. In contrast to the current MAX title, the new war journal series will have less adult themes and will have the Punisher fighting against supervillains than his usual criminal antagonists. The first three issues will deal with the Marvel Civil War event.
