The Truth About Charlie is a 2002 remake of the 1963 film Charade (which starred Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn). It is also in homage to François Truffaut's Shoot the Piano Player and that film's star Charles Aznavour appeared as himself and sung his song "Quand tu m'aimes" (English version).

The Truth About Charlie closely mirrors the plotline of the original film about a young woman (played by Thandie Newton) in Paris who plans to divorce her husband (the aforementioned Charlie) and soon after discovers that he has been murdered. Meeting a mysterious stranger (played by Mark Wahlberg), helps her piece together the truth about her deceased husband and the three people who are now following her.

The shooting was done in Paris and featured many famous French actors. Director Agnès Varda made a cameo. Actress/Chanteuse Anna Karina sung a Serge Gainsbourg song at the club.

[edit] DVD release

Due to the fact that the original Charade is in the public domain, when The Truth About Charlie was released to DVD in North America, the studio was able to include the complete original film as a bonus feature.
