[edit] History
The bands career first started in the mid 90s when they used to tour and open for a band named Froglick. This is where they first encountered their publicity. The band was originally named "Used" but had to change it to The Used because a Boston band had already taken the name. The Used were also once known as "Something To Burn" and released very few copies of a CD under this name. The CD is the same as their self-titled album, but with different track names. In an interview with the band Bert McCracken said that they wanted to name their band Creed but since it was already taken they decided to stick with The Used. Branden Steineckert started The Used in the late 90's, they had a few members come and go as they were testing to see what made the band work best. It wasn't until they recruited Bert McCracken as their vocalist to make the band as perfect as they wanted it to be. The Used officially formed in January 2001 with Bert McCracken, Jeph Howard, Quinn Allman, and Branden Steineckert.
[edit] Career
The Used released their debut album, The Used, in 2002. It was followed up by the live album/DVD Maybe Memories and their successful sophomore album In Love And Death in 2004. Their upcoming third album is currently untitled and will be released in early 2007.
[edit] Drummer's departure
On September 12, 2006, band members Bert McCracken (vocals), Quinn Allman (lead guitar) and Jeph Howard (Bass) announced on The Used's official site that drummer Branden Steineckert was no longer a member of the band.<ref>The Used Part Ways With Drummer So Band Can 'Move Forward' - MTV News</ref> They stated that they hold no harsh feeling towards Steineckert, and owe him much gratitude.
