Tie bar
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A tie bar (also known as a tie slide or tie clip) is a clothing accessory that clips a tie to the fold of a shirt, preventing it from swinging and ensuring the tie hangs straight, resulting in a neat, uniform appearance.
Tie bars are usually made of metal and often have minor decorative patterns. Some tie slides have a small badge indicating a club or other affiliation in the same way that ties themselves often have, or some other commemorative token. Occasionally, tie slides made of leather or chain are seen.
A similar device is the tie pin (also known as stickpin or tie tack), a pin that tacks the tie either directly to the shirt or to a chain which slips through the button hole of the shirt. This method is less common, and can permanently damage the tie.
