Transfare

A Transfare is a type of ticket available in Tyne and Wear which enables its holder to make a journey using both a bus and a Metro. A Metro journey counts as a single journey even if the ticket holder changes trains.

[edit] Trains
A Transfare holder may use the ticket on a heavy rail train journey within Tyne and Wear, in addition to a Metro and/or a bus. However, the bus segment must be at the start or end of the journey.
[edit] Shields Ferry
A Transfare holder may use the ticket on the Shields Ferry, in addition to one Metro ride and/or up two bus rides (one each side of the River Tyne).
[edit] Bus/Bus Interchange
Interchange between buses is permitted in one of three circumstances.
- Changing in Washington
- Changing in Sunderland to or from an express bus service
- Changing in Gateshead, Blaydon or Heworth when travelling to or from the MetroCentre.
[edit] General Regulations
- The ticket holder must begin his/her last segment of the journey within 90 minutes of purchase.
- The complete journey must be entirely within Tyne and Wear.
