If a gland retains its shape as a tube throughout it is termed a tubular gland
Tubular glands are further classified as one of the following:
- simple tubular if there is no division (e.g. large intestine or uterine glands).
- compound tubular if branching occurs (e.g. pyloric glands of stomach).
- coiled tubular if the gland is coiled without losing its tubular form (e.g. in sweat glands.)
