Union Pacific 3985 or UP 3985 is a 4-6-6-4 steam locomotive owned by Union Pacific Railroad. It is the largest operating steam locomotive in the world. It was originally retired and placed on display, but later a group of UP volunteers overhauled it and returned it to operable condition. It is now used for excursion trains. It is one of only two "Challenger" types in existance, the other being UP 3977 on display in North Platte, Nebraska.
