Vegan Leather is a artificial alternative to traditional leather, this material may be chosen for ethical reasons or because as a designed material it may have properties designed into it that out-performs a natural material.

Many vegan materials can be used as leather alternatives. Some of these materials are:

  • Vegetan - a microfiber material created specifically to act as a vegan leather
  • Lorica - made from a combination of fine microfibers
  • Birko-Florâ„¢ - This is a proprietary material of Birkenstock. It is made of acrylic and polyamide felt fibres. A variation is made to replicate patent leather
  • Birkibucâ„¢ - Another proprietary material of Birkenstock, made of the same materials, but designed to replicate the look and feel of nubuck leather.
  • PVC
