Vella is located at 4,081 ft altitude on a plateau in the centre of the Val Lumnezia, a high Alpine Valley in the Surselva district of the Swiss Canton of Grisons/Graubünden. The parish council Vella consists of the village Villa and the church St. Vincent in Pleif built on a ridge overlooking the Glenner/Glogn gorge, a tributary to the Vorderrhein. The highest elevation is Mount Stein at 7,126 feet altitude. The parish council has 447 inhabitants. The official language is Romansh.
