Wedding breakfast

Confusingly, the wedding breakfast is usually not a morning meal (breakfast), but is the traditional name for the dinner given to the bride, bridegroom and guests at the wedding reception that follows a wedding in England.
The name apparently arises from the fact that the bride and bridegroom would have been fasting before the wedding, and so the reception would be the time when they would break their fast.
