White note

On a keyboard instrument, a white note is one of the larger notes that lie below and around the black notes. A C major scale played on a keyboard consists entirely of white notes. A keyboard has a total of 52 white notes.

Historically, the white notes on a piano were coated with ivory, though this is no longer the case.
